Cabin Fever: State TT in the house…

BY KENNETH LUNDGREN

Congrats to all who competed on Sunday down in Chatsworth…

Two things: one, I’m getting a little stir crazy! Can walk somewhat now, but not much else. At least I’ll be the freshest rider come September!!!

Two, I was keenly reminded of my heavy time trial training during my drive to the tennis club yesterday, where I teach a speed and agility class. I was driving on this nice wide county road, and there were these time trialists out there hammering along, scattered all through the towns. The Wyckoff Triathlon is fast approaching, and NOW everyone is out.

I train on this road all year long. When I worked in a bike shop, I commuted 20 miles each way on this road, 20 degrees 50 degrees 80 degrees, rain or shine, day or night, all year long. And currently working a few nights at the club, I ride the same road when I commute. And NOW, two weeks prior to the triathlon, I see the guys out there… All year long I’m the only guy out there…

And I’m not going to deny the fact that when I see some riders in my sights, sometimes I drop the hammer and go flying by at 34 mph! This is my road, pal, lol… At any rate, seeing these triathletes out there yesterday, this was what I thought of yesterday, blowing by some guy at 34 mph three days before the State TT last year. And I had thought, Whoa, I’m going to have a good ride in Chatsworth. And I did.

I have a good entry coming up on the State TT… Some interesting things happened!!!

Hope all is well and hope to see y’all on the road sooner than later…
